HIIT while bulking, do or don't? - jmhw.info Forums
Results 1 to 15 of HIIT while bulking, do or don't? Hey guys I have started a slow bulk in order to keep my gains lean. However I am a bit concerned about cardio.
I can't imagine not doing it but I hate just jogging at a handy pace for long periods. Can anyone advise me? HIIT will tend to cut into recovery from lifting more than lower intensity cardio. Cardio is good for cardiovascular conditioning and general health Cardio will NOT make your bulk leaner - unless you happen to be overeating and it compensates for that by chance. Those are long HIIT sessions. Mine go about four minutes in the Tabata protocol.
I should do it every day, simply must, because it is my job, I have no other. Blue Collar Training http: Originally Posted by SuffolkPunch. Cardio will NOT make your bulk leaner - unless you happen to be overeating and it compensates for that by chance. Originally Posted by orangegoblin.

I've seen that Tabata protocol and while it is intense 4 mins just seems so little.. HIIT is even important during bulking. It has more benefits than just burning fat. When you are eating alot of calories, the calorie burn is so insignificant. Also you only ever have to worry about muscle loss as an endurance athlete.
Every study shown to cause any marked losses in muscle were endurance athletes who trained aerobically for hours and hours. The benefits included greater nutrient partitioning, stronger heart muscle, better conditioning while exercising with weights recover faster from sets via glycolysis. Anyone who tells you other wise is a lazy fatass who has no grasp on how to exercise. Its not only about how much you burn during it, its about how much you burn after it, HIIT training takes a lot of calories to recover, and also, most of the HIIT circuits, put a lot of presure on the legs muscle, tearing down big amounts of muscle tissue that must also be repaired which also cost calories to the body , and can mess your leg workout quite a bit, and make recovery slower.
I do the HIITs while bulking to maintain my endurance, since I also practice martial arts and contact sports, but I always have to overeat for that, and sleep. So, dont do the hiit with the idea of bulking lean, do it for maintain your endurance, or dont do it at all. If your goal is to bulk lean, you should be paying more attention to the diet, carefully and slowly keep adding carbs to it until you find a nice balance. Any updated opinions on this? Would want to do hiit whilst bulking on a 3x full body workout.

Short high burst activity and fairly long rest periods. All the cardio you really need is maybe miles a day of brisk walk. If you still wanna do HIIT do it on your off days, mins max. Make sure you eat a bit more to accomodate the HIIT expenditure. Getting me some gains Lifting log http: HIIT while bulking, is it possible? By StarNova in forum Exercises.
